Below you will find information about VECA’s many committees. We’re always looking for more neighbors to join our efforts. Email email@example.com to learn more about any of our committees.
Blight Busters promotes a well-maintained living environment seeking to identify and address options for taking care of neglected properties that violate city codes and pose a danger to our neighborhood. They maintain the Lyndale Community Garden as well as several vacant lots and properties.
A history of the Lyndale Community Garden initiative can be found here: Lyndale Garden history
The Business Districts committee supports efforts to revitalize and stimulate the vitality of our five (5) commercial nodes and keep them attractive for businesses and consumers, as well as bringing more prosperity and shopping to the V&E community.
We are a big neighborhood with many options for keeping in touch and spreading news. The Communications Committee publishes paper and electronic newsletters as well as maintains the website and a Facebook page. We can always use more voices on our pages and help with distribution.
Our mission is to beautify our V&E neighborhood, one garden at a time and to enhance our knowledge of gardening. We’re members of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs. Please nominate your favorite garden(s) to receive the Yard of the Month designation. If you have any ideas you are interested in, send us an email. We’ll see you in The Garden!
The greenspace committee has a straightforward but difficult mission of safeguarding the greenspace in Vollintine Evergreen. Committee members advocate for clean and safe use of the two streams (Lick Creek and Cypress Creek) in the neighborhood, our parks, and work with government officials and residents to plant and maintain trees
Our historic committee works to preserve, protect, and promote the neighborhood’s history, architectural character and value, streetscapes, landscapes, neighborhood buildings and design characteristics through public information, special projects, and events. We’d love to have your help in achieving our goals!
Comprised of VECA Board Members and Vollintine Evergreen residents, the Managing Committee meets monthly to oversee management and financial issues, review grants, and proactively address issues of concern for the organization.
The membership committee engages residents of VECA in financially supporting our wonderful Vollintine Evergreen neighborhood through membership. Membership dues support the programs residents want and need. The committee is also exploring other fundraising options to increase VECA’s income – your ideas and help are always welcome!
This committee brings our neighbors together for the common good, working to make Vollintine Evergreen a great place to live for all residents. They facilitate Block Clubs to organize social events in VECA such as National Night Out, Neighborfest, and the Annual VECA Holiday Party.
The committee helps build V&E as a neighborhood where people feel at home both inside their houses and out and about on our streets and greenspaces. Members meet quarterly with neighbors expressing safety and security concerns, monitor crime patterns, and meet with officers from Crump Station to educate the neighborhood on proactive responses to crime.
Rental Apartments and Houses
VECA owns several rental properties in the neighborhood. Rental income from the houses and apartments help financially sustain VECA while providing good affordable housing to positively impact the neighborhood. We are always looking for more help with home maintenance and updating.
Several times a year vibrant social events hosted and organized by volunteers and members of VECA’s Events and Public Relations Committee. The V&E Greenline Artwalk is our largest event, but we also host the Annual Meeting, an Ice Cream Social, a National Night Out party, a “Trunk ‘R Treat” Halloween celebration, a Winter Holiday party, and game night. If you’ve ever enjoyed a VECA event, you’ll have even more fun helping us put one together.
Together neighborhood residents, VECA members, and volunteers preserve, maintain, and enhance the natural beauty of the V&E Greenline. A community-owned and managed trail. One of our greatest amenities, the V&E Greenline is a place to meet neighbors and improve health by walking, exercising pets, biking, jogging, and enjoying the bridges, trees, creeks, birds, animals, and public art pieces along the trail. The V&E Greenline is supported by contributors and volunteerism that use and cherish the trail.

The mission of VECA is to maintain a quality residential neighborhood through the volunteer efforts of the neighborhood’s residents. VECA supports housing, block clubs, neighborhood preservation, commercial revitalization and reinvestment, greenways, and other programs that improve the overall quality of the neighborhood. VECA administers programs that are comprehensive in nature and address the needs of neighborhood residents, businesses, churches, schools, and other institutions.
Welcome Center Committee
The VECA Welcome Center serves as the crossroads and hub for Vollintine Evergreen. The Welcome Center provides a comfortable location for neighborhood activities, from meetings for neighborhood groups and discussions with elected officials, to holiday parties and community networking. It is a place for our VECA committees to plan and care for the neighborhood as well as for neighbors to get to know one another.
VECA founded a youth initiative in 2013. The Youth Committee engages with children by including activities for them at our neighborhood events and through partnerships with schools, religious organizations, and other agencies. The committee fosters young people’s investment in their neighborhood while helping them with their academic and personal goals.
