Guidelines for the

VECA Weekly ENews

Submission Guidelines

General announcements from VECA residents will be posted once. Examples of announcements include community events, classes/educational offerings, rentals, yard sales, lost and founds, etc.

  • Event announcements in the neighborhood will be posted once.
  • Announcements from non-VECA residents will not be posted.
  • Announcements from VECA businesses (for special offers to the neighborhood) may request to be posted once a quarter.
  • Announcements and special offers from a business outside of the neighborhood, will be posted once if it is connected to a neighbor (ie, a neighbor owns the business or if a neighbor recommends/endorses the business, etc).
  • Announcements for events outside of the Vollintine-Evergreen may be posted once if the event is deemed positive and speaks to the quality of life for the community, and especially if the event is in the Midtown area. We will include links to events when they are provided.
  • To keep things simple we will not post photos.
  • As a charitable, non-profit organization, VECA is non-political and will not participate directly or indirectly in political endorsements. At most, VECA may announce voting information and dates and will stay neutral in all announcements of this nature.

  • Submission guidelines may be revised as deemed necessary by the VECA board of directors.
  • The VECA Facebook page is an informal platform also available where neighbors may post events

    • Yard Sale Announcements

    • Yard sale announcements from VECA residents will be posted once as follows:
    • The yard sale address must be within VECA boundaries.
    • Addresses for group yard sales must be within VECA boundaries.
    • Yard sale date(s) and times will be posted (ie, Fri-Sat: 8:00am-1:00pm).
    • Descriptions related to merchandise content will not be posted.
    • Resident names are not included unless specifically requested.
    • Announcements will be posted the week submitted.
    • Shelby County law allows for two sales per year without having to obtain a permit

    Weekly Announcements Deadline

    • Submissions are due weekly by 3:00pm, Wednesday.

    Submission Requirements

    • To post your announcements, your name, street and email address must be provided.
    • Please send your announcements via email to: news@veca.org
